Responsibilities

Record journal entries for loss activity and maintain schedules for statutory reporting
Reconcile loss-related accounts and support monthly/quarterly close
Assist with audits, financial statements, and regulatory filings (e.g., Schedule P)
Collaborate with Claims and Actuarial on reserve analysis and consistency
Drive automation and process improvements with IT
Prepare and record journal entries for loss activity (paid, case, and IBNR) across multiple lines of business
Maintain internal schedules for loss triangles, development analyses, and statutory reporting
Reconcile loss-related general ledger accounts and prepare supporting schedules for monthly and quarterly close
Support internal and external audits with documentation and walkthroughs
Partner with Claims and Finance Operations to validate and reconcile paid losses and reserves
Collaborate with Actuarial on quarterly reserve analysis and ensure consistency across departments
Assist in preparing financial statement footnotes and regulatory filings (e.g., Schedule P)
Drive process improvements for reporting accuracy and workflow automation
Contribute to quarterly and annual statement preparation, disclosures, and internal communication packages
Work with IT to streamline and automate processes where possible

Required

Bachelor's in Accounting
2-5 years in public or corporate accounting
Strong US GAAP knowledge
Statutory accounting familiarity helpful
Proficient in Excel
Skilled in reconciliations and large data sets
MUST BE LOCAL TO NY/LI/CT, NO RELOCATION ASSISTANCE

Preferred

CPA or MBA
Sage Intacct experience
