The Ohio State University College of Medicine is seeking a PhD or MD/PhD researcher to join the Department of Surgery, Division of Trauma, Critical Care and Burn. The role involves contributing to research studies, securing funding, mentoring junior scientists, and developing a scholarly reputation in the field of coagulopathy related to trauma and surgical patients.

Responsibilities

Conceptualizes, plans, designs, implements and conducts research studies; develops and writes grant proposals to seek and obtain extramural funding to support research program; obtains and maintains NIH R01 or equivalent funding
Writes and publishes research in high quality peer reviewed, scientific journals; attends and makes presentations of research at national and international scientific conferences; develops national and international scholarly reputation
Instructs and mentors junior scientists, doctoral and postdoctoral students, medical students, residents and fellow trainees; participates in department, college and university committees and initiatives

Qualification

Required

PhD or MD/PhD in an applicable field
Postdoctoral research experience in basic science research
Current, active extramural grant funding (equivalent to NIH R01)
Qualify for academic appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Professor level – Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with previous training and experience

Preferred

Proven ability to write scientific reports and publish in scientific, peer-reviewed journals preferred
Academic experience a plus
