Lead Power Electronics Engineer
Eaton is a leader in electrical solutions and is currently seeking a Lead Power Electronics Engineer to join their Electrical Critical Power Solutions Division in Raleigh, NC. The role involves supporting product development and design of high-power UPS systems, as well as leading cross-functional teams in the design and validation of power electronics products.

Responsibilities
Successfully launch critical power infrastructure products that meet customer requirements and Eaton safety, quality, reliability, cost and schedule commitments
Work with cross-functional engineering team to design and develop new products including SiC three-phase UPS's from 500kW to 2.5MW and Lithium Ion 1MW and larger energy storage systems for maintaining critical loads such as datacenters and hospitals
Leverage your skill and experience by giving guidance and leadership to other technical project team members
Work with global product development teams to solve problems related to performance, functionality, safety, reliability, quality and component availability
Lead product DVT and validation testing in the lab with a team of engineers and technicians
Support prototype build, testing and delivery of products to the customer
Exceptional problem-solving skills working to design and layout systems while engaging cross functional teams to identify optimal layout while balancing Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and long-term serviceability
Participate in project-wide reviews of requirements, system architecture, and detailed design documents
Work closely with regulatory experts to ensure design meet UL and other certification body requirements
Identify opportunities for process, tools, and test methodology improvements, and drive those from concept to implementation
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution with minimum 5 years work experience in power electronics (circuit design or schematic capture, PCB layout, circuit review or circuit analysis)
OR a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution with a minimum of 2 years work experience in power electronics (circuit design or schematic capture, PCB layout, circuit review or circuit analysis)
Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future. Eaton will not consider applicants for employment immigration sponsorship or support for this position. This means that Eaton will not support any CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT plans, F-1 to H-1B, H-1B cap registration, O-1, E-3, TN status, I-485 job portability, etc
Preferred
Familiarity with schematic entry and PCB design tools like Altium, Cadence, etc
Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
Experience applying digital control and algorithms to power electronics systems
Understanding of Magnetics Design for high frequency Power Electronics
Ability to simulate, analyze, troubleshoot using HIL systems
Competent with Matlab/Simulink/PLECS and PSPICE
Analyze and simulate power electronics systems from board level to complex products
Understanding of layout design principles
Work in lab environment around high voltage where safety awareness is critical
