Responsibilities

Coordinates company-wide compliance with U.S. Export Control laws and regulations, including ITAR, CUI and any other applicable state and federal regulations
Maintains records and documentation required under Export Control laws
Oversees compliance with CUI requirements, including training, documentation, and system controls
Develops and maintains internal compliance policies, procedures, and training programs
Conducts internal audits and assessments; identifies non-compliance risks and recommends/implements corrective actions
Interfaces with legal counsel, government agencies, and external auditors as needed
Actively promotes, administers, follows and enforces safety and health program. Plans and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations
Leads regular Safety Committee meetings
Plans and implements programs to train employees in worksite safety practices, fire prevention, and correct handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment, and other materials
Utilizes audio, visual, and written media to document key Safety procedures and develop useful and effective training
Prepares studies and analyses of industrial accident causes and hazards to health for use by company personnel and outside agencies
Inspects organization facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented
Provides information, signs, posters, barriers, and other materials to warn of potential and actual safety hazards and to prevent access to hazardous conditions
Leads the investigation of accidents and injuries and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations
Coordinate, investigation of, and, if warranted, correction of any unsafe conditions brought to management’s attention by employees, supervisors or safety committee
Compiles and submits accident reports required by regulatory agencies
Prepares and arranges safety exhibits and material for display, promotional work, industry conferences, and exhibitions
Ensures that all precautions and preparations are taken to maintain the safest possible use of facilities, machines, and equipment for the protection of company personnel and visitors
Represents the organization in community or industry safety groups and programs
Maintains safety files and records
Conduct and/or coordinate training and cross training of all manufacturing personnel in the safe use of all equipment
Monitors environmental compliance issues and provides assistance with workplace safety matters. Performs and/or oversees environmental monitoring for facility discharges, storm water management and other environmental-related permits. Performs routine industrial and hazardous waste management activities such as waste inventories, vendor scheduling and waste haul oversight, and manifest tracking and filing

Required

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Engineering, Business, Law, or related discipline) or equivalent work experience
Minimum 3 years of experience in a compliance or EHS role, preferably within a regulated industry, or equivalent combinations of education, training and related experience
Strong knowledge of U.S. Export Control laws, including ITAR, EAR, and CUI guidelines
Familiarity with applicable EHS regulations and best practices
Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work cross-functionally
Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement effective corrective actions
Ability to operate safety and environmental monitoring equipment
Excellent initiative, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills which facilitate good working relationships with staff, customers and vendors
U.S. citizenship required (due to access to export-controlled materials)

Preferred

Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP) or similar credential preferred
OSHA 30-Hour Certification or other recognized EHS training preferred
Experience working in a manufacturing or defense environment preferred
