Responsibilities

Inspire teens with curiosity, excitement, and passion for science learning
Engage them in hands-on content-specific learning
Mentor them on a journey of exploration, investigation, discovery, and invention!
Develop an understanding of, and the ability to facilitate STEM Teen Research Camp programming in a fun, engaging, hands-on environment while supplying accurate scientific information
Present programs in an energetic, appropriate and way that actively engages teens while managing a learning environment for participants' well-being and safety
Be responsible for materials management, including set-up, clean-up, and storage
Thoroughly understand building safety and security protocols and implement emergency procedures
Serve as an enthusiastic role model and mentor for teens
Adhere to all of the policies and procedures of UC Berkeley and The Lawrence

Required

Experienced and excited to share science learning experiences with youth grades 7-12
Demonstrated creative teaching methods in informal or formal learning environments
Responsible, organized, and healthy work ethic capable of working independently and collaboratively with an educational team
Strong customer service and verbal communication skills
Basic skills using business software systems in completing work assignments, i.e., Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint
Required content expertise based on the specific program to which you are applying to teach (see below)--you can apply for more than one program title
Reliable, punctual, and available to work for the required dates and times
Able to traverse uneven grounds and lift up to 25 pounds (carts are available)
For marine biology instructors only: current California Driver's License and 21 years old
