Sr. Drone Operator / Robotics Operator

Allied Resources Technical Consultants is seeking an experienced Senior Drone / Robotics Operator to support utility inspection, emergency response, and infrastructure assessment activities across a large, regulated service territory. Responsibilities

Plan and execute complex drone and robotics missions in support of utility inspection, surveying, emergency response, and infrastructure assessment initiatives
Operate advanced UAS platforms, including enterprise-grade drones and drone-in-a-box systems, while ensuring mission safety and data integrity
Conduct advanced pre-flight inspections, system calibrations, and operational readiness checks
Lead or support on-site setup, operation, and recovery of drone and robotics equipment
Monitor equipment performance during missions and make real-time operational adjustments as required
Collect, process, and analyze aerial data, translating findings into actionable insights for engineering and field operations teams
Support both transmission and distribution inspection activities (preferred), or general utility inspections (accepted)
Ensure full compliance with FAA Part 107 regulations, waivers, and restricted airspace requirements
Coordinate with FAA, law enforcement, and emergency management entities during regulated or emergency operations
Develop and follow maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair procedures for drone and robotics systems
Stay current on emerging drone technologies, payloads, and operational best practices, recommending improvements where appropriate
Collaborate cross-functionally with Transmission, Distribution, and Emergency Operations teams to support broader operational objectives

Required

FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate (required)
Demonstrated experience operating drones in controlled or restricted airspace, including familiarity with DC-area flight restrictions
Strong working knowledge of FAA regulations, waiver processes, and airspace authorization procedures
Experience operating enterprise drone platforms (e.g., DJI Matrice or equivalent)
Familiarity with advanced payloads, including thermal imaging, zoom optics, and LiDAR
Proficiency with mission planning and flight management software
Ability to mobilize quickly and adapt to dynamic, high-pressure operational environments
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret aerial data and communicate findings clearly
Professional communication skills and experience working with technical, regulatory, and field-based teams
Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively within the service territory

Preferred
