Building Equity Management is a boutique NYC property management firm overseeing 125+ residential buildings. They are seeking a hands-on accounting professional to support their growing portfolio and back-office team.

Responsibilities

Prepare and post journal entries
Perform and review bank reconciliations
Monitor bank balances and cash activity
Assist with monthly financial reporting packages
Support tax pass-through calculations and owner distributions
Assist with annual common charge / maintenance increases
Coordinate with condo and co-op CPAs during audits and reviews
Respond to accounting-related inquiries from owners, tenants, and internal teams
Provide review support for AP and AR work
Identify issues before financials are released to managing agents or clients

Required

Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience
4-year degree from a reputable college or university with a major in Accounting or Business
Hands-on experience with general ledger accounting, bank reconciliations, and month-end close
Comfortable interacting with clients and explaining financial information clearly
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, small-team environment

Preferred

Experience in property management, real estate, condo, or co-op accounting
Familiarity with online property management or accounting platforms (e.g., Yardi, AppFolio, Propertyware, MRI, or similar)
Experience working with external CPAs or auditors
