This role involves end-to-end ownership from algorithm development through on-orbit performance.

Responsibilities
Design, develop, and validate Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) algorithms for spacecraft attitude determination, control, and orbital maneuvers
Develop state estimation and sensor fusion algorithms, including extended and unscented Kalman filters, using inputs from star trackers, IMUs, GPS, sun sensors, and magnetometers
Design and tune control laws (PID, LQR, optimal and robust control) for reaction wheels, magnetorquers, and thrusters
Build and maintain high-fidelity spacecraft dynamics models and simulations, including disturbance modeling and actuator/sensor characteristics
Define and flow down GNC requirements, margins, and performance budgets in collaboration with systems engineering
Support software-in-the-loop (SIL), hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), and closed-loop testing to verify GNC performance
Analyze test and on-orbit telemetry data to assess performance, identify anomalies, and implement algorithm improvements
Support environmental testing, launch, commissioning, and early on-orbit operations, including real-time performance monitoring and troubleshooting
Collaborate closely with avionics, flight software, mechanical, and AIT teams to ensure robust implementation and integration
Qualification
Required
7+ years of experience in GNC engineering for spacecraft, aerospace, or high-reliability systems
Strong background in attitude determination and control systems (ADCS)
Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink, Python, or similar tools
Experience supporting flight missions or spacecraft qualification
Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering or related field
Preferred
Master's or PhD in Aerospace Engineering or related field
