Responsibilities

Works with the Accounts Payable processes, performing higher level functions
Assist with timely completion of month-end processes
Prepare and input journal entries (monthly, adjusting, and recurring)
Utilize and analyze information and options by developing spreadsheet reports and or verifying information
Assist in preparing reports
Prepare audit work papers for assigned areas of responsibility
Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports
Monitor compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures
Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data
Assist with special projects as requested
Able to work in a fast-paced environment and can prioritize tasks
Assist with USD and foreign transactions
Perform other duties and ad hoc projects, as required

Required

High School Diploma required with prior administrative accounting experience
Minimum 2 years of accounting experience (non-profit environment a plus)
Experience working with accounting database systems and applications
Strong analytical skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis
Proficient Microsoft Excel and Word skills
Effective written and verbal communication skills, including ability to interact with all levels throughout the organization
Must demonstrate initiative, attention to detail, with an ability to think, work, solve practical problems, manage time efficiently and effectively
Accepts responsibility and accountability commensurate with role
Strong listening skills with the ability to follow direction as required
Ability to maintain confidentiality and integrity
Supportive of Mercy Ships mission and vision and committed to its core values
Understand and apply servant leadership, work collaboratively with integrity and demonstrate accountability
Successful completion of Mercy Ships Entry Training will be required within the first year

Preferred

Bachelor's degree is not required, however, is a plus
Experience in a non-profit environment
