TPWD - Program Specialist VI (Big Game Program Specialist) (INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY)
The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is dedicated to managing and conserving Texas's natural and cultural resources. The Big Game Program Specialist will provide consultative services and technical assistance, focusing on Chronic Wasting Disease management and collaborating on special projects related to big game species' health.

Responsibilities
Assists TPWD staff with all issues involving Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD), across the state including developing and disseminating relevant information regarding CWD, and assisting with CWD disease management plan creation, issuance and compliance for CWD positive and trace breeding facilities and release sites
Work involves: input, review, and analysis of information; verification and quality control of program data; preparing the agency’s CWD reports; organizing and tracking traces; reviewing annual compliance, collaboration with the TPWD Wildlife Permits Office to ensure correct program administration; coordinating meeting between customers, TPWD and stakeholders, collecting and analyzing data on program efficiency and effectiveness; monitoring for developments in National and State CWD programs and policies, and developing and maintaining other technical and special reports
Collaborates with Department staff on a range of special projects, including departmental initiatives focused on big game species' health and disease response
Works under minimal supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment
Performs additional duties as assigned
Complies with all Agency and Division rules, regulations, and procedures
Qualification
Required
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a B.S. degree in wildlife science, wildlife ecology, wildlife management, animal science, agricultural science, epidemiology or closely related field
Five years of professional experience, not associated with the pursuit of undergraduate or graduate degree programs, in the field of wildlife biology, ecology, range science, biology, wildlife disease ecology, animal health, epidemiology or associated field, with experience in analyzing data, developing and implementing spreadsheets, and using Excel, and other office data management software
Must possess or be able to obtain, within 30 days of employment, a valid Class “C” Texas driver's license
