Responsibilities
Safely operates light and heavy equipment in a constantly changing environment to perform highway and bridge maintenance functions
Performs related skilled, semi-skilled, and manual labor to maintain parks, county buildings, public drainage systems, and other public works projects as required
Assists in county traffic services which include assisting in sign making operations, installation of new signs and posts, and repair of existing signs
Performs "call-out" assignments as required. They may be called upon to call others to come in to work in the absence of the foreman, and the superintendent
Performs truck driver safety inspections as required by Minnesota Law
Performs maintenance on all types of light and heavy equipment
Operates computers and mobile phone/devices for use with Cartegraph, Outlook, Microsoft Word, etc
Performs other comparable duties of a like or similar nature as assigned
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or GED
Requires an approved valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with airbrake and satisfactory driving record including no more than two moving violations within the last three years
Must obtain and maintain a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and tanker endorsement within probationary period of employment
Preferred
1-3 years experience in highway maintenance and construction work including operation and maintenance of heavy equipment, other vehicles, and equipment related to highway maintenance and construction
Some basic knowledge of hazardous materials
Some basic knowledge of work zones
