NEOGOV is seeking a Departmental Technician to support the Treasury Department of the State of Michigan. The role involves reviewing, preparing, and organizing legal documentation and files, as well as responding to inquiries and supporting legal analysts.

Responsibilities

Review, prepare, and organize documentation and files related to legal functions for the Collection Services Bureau
Handle requests from the Office of Attorney General (AG) in Lansing & Detroit
Manage various litigation matters including bankruptcy settlements and Corporate Officer Liability determinations
Process Power of Attorney (POA) requests and Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests
Prepare documentation for informal conferences and Tribunal Hearings
Research, review, and interpret laws associated with legal functions
Respond verbally and in writing to inquiries
Provide support to Legal analysts
Track and compile statistical data associated with collection accounts

Required

Education typically acquired through completion of high school
Departmental Technician 7: One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 7-level in state service
Departmental Technician 8: One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 8-level in state service. OR One year of experience as a technician or paraprofessional equivalent to the entry level in state service
Departmental Technician E9: One year of experience as a supervisor of administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service. OR One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service. OR Two years of experience as a technician or paraprofessional, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate level in state service
Departmental Technician 10: Two years of experience as a supervisor of administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service. OR Two years of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service. OR Three years of experience as a technician or paraprofessional, including one year of experience equivalent to the experienced level in state service
Completion of two years of college (60 semester or 90 term credits) may be substituted for the experience requirement for Departmental Technician 7
Possession of a Bachelor's degree may be substituted for the experience requirement for Departmental Technician 8
Possession of a Bachelor's degree and one year of job-related experience may be substituted for the experience requirement for Departmental Technician E9
Possession of a Bachelor's degree and one year of professional experience may be substituted for the experience requirement for Departmental Technician 10
Applicants who possess a degree from a foreign college or university must have their academic credentials evaluated or converted into U.S. educational equivalents unless the degree has been recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA)
Selected candidate must have a safe and appropriate designated workspace or workstation for performance of work and secure and sufficient internet access of commercial cable or wireless broadband with minimum speeds of 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload
Work must be performed in the state of Michigan. If you currently reside outside of Michigan, you must relocate to Michigan to perform the duties of this position. Relocation expenses are not reimbursed
The Michigan Department of Treasury participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with your form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the U.S
This position has a FTINPRINT sub-class code. The sub-class code indicates the position has access to Federal Tax Information (FTI) and requires passing of a fingerprint-based background check per IRS Publication 1075
