Komodo Health is on a mission to reduce the global burden of disease by leveraging data. The Associate General Counsel, Employment will serve as the lead advisor on employment matters, managing litigation and providing strategic legal advice to internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Advise on a variety of labor and employment law matters, including employee relations, wage and hour, compensation and benefits, performance management, disciplinary actions, leaves and accommodations, recruiting, restrictive covenants and contingent workers

Partner with our People Team to support day-to-day employee lifecycle matters

Draft, review and update employment related policies and agreements, including our employee handbook and our variable compensation plans

Support global employment matters in France, India, the United Kingdom, and manage contingent worker matters hired through PEOs with assistance from local counsel

Evaluate and scale current employment processes

Support workplace investigations and disputes

Actively monitor legislation, regulations, case law, and government enforcement activities relating to employment issues and provide proactive, strategic advice to the relevant stakeholders as necessary

Support employment compliance matters

Prepare and provide training on various employment law matters to internal stakeholders

Provide employment law support for corporate transactions

Required

Must have a J.D. from an ABA-approved law school and be an active member in good standing with the state bar association (CA, NY preferred)

10+ years of labor and employment experience, including in-house experience

Deep expertise in CA labor and employment law, as well as demonstrated knowledge of other jurisdictions

Demonstrated judgment, personal integrity, discretion regarding confidential matters, and interpersonal skills

Ability to independently research and advise on complex legal questions as the company's sole labor and employment attorney

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to identify risk and simplify complex legal issues for the business in a clear and concise manner

Experience in advising on variable compensation plans, pay equity and pay transparency matters, and wage and hour compliance, including job classifications and payroll compliance

Experience in advising on workforce change strategies including reorganizations, reductions in team and WARN compliance

Ability to be flexible in a fast-paced environment with limited direction, balance competing priorities, and manage several time-sensitive projects at once
