Project Engineer - Entry Level
Southwest Shipyard, LP provides various marine services and is seeking a motivated recent graduate for the position of Project Engineer in Houston. The successful candidate will oversee and coordinate all aspects of new construction projects, ensuring timely completion within budget and quality standards.

Responsibilities
Project Planning & Execution: Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, schedule, and resource allocation for the new construction of barges and vessels
Engineering Oversight: Collaborate with design and engineering teams to ensure designs meet regulatory and company standards, and facilitate problem-solving for any technical challenges that arise
Budget Management: Monitor project budgets, approve expenditures, and manage cost control measures to ensure financial goals are met
Quality Assurance: Ensure all construction meets rigorous quality standards, perform site inspections, and enforce compliance with safety and regulatory standards
Scheduling & Coordination: Maintain project timelines, oversee daily operations, and manage internal and external resources to ensure timely project milestones
Vendor & Stakeholder Management: Coordinate with suppliers, contractors, and other external stakeholders, negotiating contracts, monitoring performance, and managing relationships
Reporting & Documentation: Maintain detailed records of project progress, prepare regular status reports, and provide updates to senior management and clients
Team Leadership: Guide and support project teams, fostering a collaborative environment and ensuring all members have a clear understanding of project goals and responsibilities
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Marine, Industrial, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering; equivalent experience will also be considered
Familiarity with CAD software, MS Project, or similar project management tools; experience with marine engineering practices and regulatory requirements
Must have good judgment skills and a high-level work initiative
Must be able to work independently, without direct supervision and as part of a team
Must have strong analytical skills and ability to interface with Customers and all management levels
Able to understand and abide by all company rules, policies and procedures
Develop a working knowledge of company Quality, Environmental and Safety program requirements and enforce adherence to program elements
Must be an expert in MS Office & Internet and AutoCAD and MS–Project applications
Must be eligible to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
Ability to work in varied conditions (i.e.: heat, cold, rain, ice, snow, etc.), inside and outside
Ability to work in confined space/heights and operate equipment safely and efficiently
Preferred
Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent is a plus
Entry-level experience in maritime, shipyard, or heavy construction projects
