Postdoctoral Appointee - Geoscience Research, Onsite
Sandia National Laboratories is the nation’s premier science and engineering lab for national security and technology innovation, with teams of specialists focused on cutting-edge work in a broad array of areas. They are seeking a postdoctoral researcher to assist with experimental geomechanics, material science, and geothermal energy research, including supporting rock mechanics testing and analyzing experimental data.

Responsibilities
Support state-of-the-art rock mechanics testing
Develop and implement laboratory experiments
Interpret coupled process behavior in materials
Process and analyze experimental data for subsurface applications
Qualification
Required
PhD in geology/geophysics, geomechanics, geotechnical engineering, or other relevant, related discipline
Hands-on experience in laboratory experimentation
Experience with geophysical analysis
Proven record of technical accomplishment and strong written and verbal communication skills, as evidenced by publications in peer-reviewed journals and/or presentations at scientific conferences
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE L-level security clearance
Preferred
Familiarity with data acquisition and processing techniques
Experience with experimental rock mechanics research and subsurface energy applications
Proven ability to independently identify and develop innovative solutions to a diverse range of challenges
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including proficiency in technical writing
Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, with the ability to thrive in a high-functioning environment
