Senior Manager, Risk (First Line of Defense)

Responsibilities
Designing, implementing, managing and reporting on an Operational Risk based program for LOBs within US TI&I
Leading Risk and Controls Self-Assessments (RCSAs) and Change Initiative Risk Assessments (CIRAs), as applicable
Leading and managing day-to-day deficiency and risk issue remediation; designing and implementing new controls and special projects, updating and maintaining a risk and control inventory, and remediating any gaps and inadequacies
Leading, coordinating, and liaising between US TI&I LOB Management and other lines of defense and collaborating with business units in developing and monitoring corrective action plans when responding to Audit, Compliance, Self-Assessed, or regulatory examination findings
Leading deficiency validation work once remediation is complete
Providing risk guidance in developing, reviewing and maintaining operational risk and compliance policies and procedures as it relates to US TI&I Lines of Business
Maintaining awareness of regulatory changes across the industry, analyzing how the changes will affect the line of business, and creating a strategy to implement such changes within US TI&I
Managing relationships at director and senior director level, within the assigned LOB
Working closely with LOB partners to proactively identify risk exposures and control gaps
Analyzing and synthesizing risk exposures, operational losses, root causes and control gaps
Leading the assessment and recommendation of self-assessed deficiencies to mitigate risk exposures and control gaps
Leading all Internal Audits, Compliance Exams, AML/CEEP, and GORM Reviews for the LOB regarding audit scope review & finalization, requests for information, fieldwork support and potential deficiency management
Leading deficiency validation documentation once remediation is complete
Understanding and communicating requirements related to fraud, AML, compliance, data, and transaction processing risks
Translating risk requirements into process and controls
Identifying efficiency opportunities within existing processes to ensure process awareness and understanding and impacts
Leading the completion of CIBC Control Framework requirements, including Risk and Controls Self Assessments (RCSAs), Key Regulatory Indicators (KRIs)
Acting as the Maintenance Officer for Operational Process Controls (OPCs), Financial Process Controls (FPCs) and Regulatory Compliance Management (RCM) controls
Qualification
Required
7+ years of experience in Audit/Enterprise/Risk Management/or Management Consulting, leading and addressing daily deficiency and risk remediation activities; developing and implementing new controls and managing special projects
Deep understanding of the risk assessment framework and experience performing end to end LOB risk and controls self-assessments covering key risks and controls
Strong working knowledge of regulatory requirements to perform and ensure an appropriate level of testing, and experience within financial, operational, compliance and reputation risks
Solid project management skills with the ability to adapt to change quickly, multi-task and demonstrate flexibility in prioritization based on requested tasks
BS or MS (Risk Management, Business, Finance or similar)
Data analysis and visualization skills using Excel or other analysis software
Comfortable performing ad-hoc statistical analysis using Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, complex formulas, and other advanced Excel functions to determine root causes and trends related to testing failures
Strong interpersonal, communication (oral and written) and problem-solving skills, including effective engagement with senior leaders of the organization
