AIR RESOURCES ENGINEER (MAND)
Caltrans District 3 is dedicated to protecting public health and empowering communities. They are seeking an Air Resources Engineer to conduct analyses of air quality data, enhance the AQview platform, and support community engagement related to air quality issues.
Government Administration
Responsibilities
Conducting comprehensive analyses of air quality data
Developing innovative techniques to analyze all air monitoring data across California
Helping communities interpret the data in explicit and understandable ways
Coordinating with data providers to expand AQview by adding more air monitoring data, including the integration of independent sensor networks and additional community monitoring data from various projects
Strategically planning and supporting the development of data analytical modules, data summaries, and other enhancements of AQview features to address evolving needs of community members and other partners
Conducting outreach activities on the findings from data analyses and the use of AQview to access and interpret air quality data and collect feedback to improve AQview
Contribute to the information gathering, data analysis, protocol development, and cross-agency coordination related to emerging toxics
Qualification
Required
Strong background in air quality data management, analysis, visualization, interpretation, and presentation
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Ability to conduct comprehensive analyses of air quality data
Experience in developing innovative techniques to analyze air monitoring data
Ability to help communities interpret data in explicit and understandable ways
Experience in coordinating with data providers to expand AQview
Ability to strategically plan and support the development of data analytical modules and enhancements of AQview features
Experience in conducting outreach activities on findings from data analyses
Ability to contribute to information gathering, data analysis, protocol development, and cross-agency coordination related to emerging toxics
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Effective communication and presentation skills, including verbal and written reports
Ability to engage and collaborate with a diverse group of collaborators
Ability to handle multiple projects with strict deadlines
Preferred
Extensive experience and knowledge in air quality data management, analysis, visualization, and interpretation
Thorough understanding of various types of air monitoring data across California
Proficiency in Excel, R, Python, ArcGIS, MySQL, Typescript/Javascript/Node.js, PySpark, React web development, AWS Lambda design, programming and integration with AWS services
Strong problem-solving skills
