Responsibilities
Conduct daily field inspections of civil and structural work, including concrete, steel, excavation, utilities, and finishes
Verify contractor compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and NYC/MTA codes
Monitor construction activities for adherence to safety protocols and environmental regulations
Document inspection findings, prepare daily reports, and maintain accurate field records
Identify and report non-conforming work; assist in resolution and corrective actions
Coordinate with Resident Engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure timely issue resolution
Review and verify materials delivered to the site for compliance with approved submittals
Attend progress meetings and provide technical input as needed
Qualification
Required
Minimum 5 years of experience in civil inspection on infrastructure or transit projects
Prior work on MTA, NYCT, LIRR, or Metro-North projects
Experience with tunnel, station, or track infrastructure
Knowledge of CMU, rebar placement, waterproofing, and concrete testing procedures
Strong knowledge of NYC Building Code, ACI, ASTM, and other relevant standards
OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety Certification required
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in field reporting tools and Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred
NICET Level II or higher certification in Civil Construction preferred
