SENIOR ARCHITECT
The NYC Department of Social Services is dedicated to fighting poverty and addressing homelessness in New York City. They are seeking a Senior Architect to manage the Agency’s construction program, develop project scopes, and ensure compliance with architectural plans and building codes.

Responsibilities
Perform all difficult and responsible architectural work associated with the preparation, review and management of the Agency’s construction program
Develop project scope and preliminary cost estimates
Manage multiple projects simultaneously
Review construction/consultant contracts for scope compliance and architectural plans prepared by consultants and/or in-house staff
Coordinate with consultants and/or in-house staff and manage projects from conception to completion
Prepare sketches and layouts, conduct research into utilization of improved building materials, systems, etc., and evaluate suitability for utilization in HRA capital programs
Participate in substantial completion inspections and prepare detailed punch lists of items which must be corrected by contractor(s)
Sign and seal architectural and other official documents
Interpret Building Code and Zoning Resolution for non-technical staff
File projects at Department of Buildings (DOB), Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), City Planning Commission (CPC) and the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) to meet the Commissioner’s initiatives and goals
Qualification
Required
APPLICANTS MUST BE PERMANENT IN THE ARCHITECH CIVIL SERVICE TITLE OR BE PERMANENT IN A COMPARABLE TITLE ELIGIBLE FOR 6.1.9 TITLE CHANGE
A valid New York State Registration as an Architect. Current New York State Registration as an Architect must be maintained for the duration of your employment
Individuals must have at least one year within the last three years of experience as a major contributor or a project leader on a complex project requiring additional and specific expertise in the disciplines needed to design or construct the project
Preferred
Highly skilled and proficient in AutoCAD and knowledge of REVIT drafting
Understanding of construction documents, as-built drawings, and schedules
Proficiency in Microsoft office products: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, One Note, etc
Proficiency in Revu Bluebeam
