Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, motivate and involve all the team members with a focus on the Business Area Managers to define and execute regional strategies for growing the biofuels and distilling markets
Drive market development through both direct sales and distributor partnerships across Asia
Oversee Supply Chain and Logistics operations when needed
Apply technical understanding of biofuels plants and distilleries to support business decisions
Able to work with the team as technical advisor: protocols for trials, trials set-up, analysis of results, discuss process and profitability with senior customer managers
Communicate complex ideas in a clear, simple way to audiences with English as a second language, ensuring understanding
Analyze and interpret Profit & Loss (P&L) statements and economic models to guide decision-making and optimize performance
Monitor market conditions, government policies, and social trends to identify opportunities and mitigate risks
Reinforce alignment between business, country, and customer strategies within the team
Assess and manage risks effectively, making informed decisions to support growth
Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and client meetings
Negotiate and manage contracts, including Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs), Material Transfer Agreements (MTAs), and other commercial agreements in collaboration with legal and executive teams

Required

A Business degree (Business Administration, Marketing or related) and/or a Technical Degree (Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology or related Engineering degree)
Technical experience in fermentation and production process
Fluent English, and a plus if you speak another foreign language
Strong financial acumen with the ability to understand and act on P&L statements and economic modeling
Experience negotiating contracts and legal agreements (NDAs, MTAs, etc.)
This role offers the chance to be out in the field about 50% of the time—meeting teammates clients, attending events, and building relationships across Asia and Africa
Living in an Asian country or willing to relocate

Preferred

12 years or more of experience, including international experience, at least 10 of them being in the biofuels, distilled spirits or energy sales, or industrial biotech sectors
Cultural Awareness and Adaptability – Someone who genuinely respects different cultures and can adjust their approach to fit local customs
Clear, Simple Communication – Able to explain complex ideas in plain language, especially when English isn't widely spoken
Good Listener and Observer – Can pick up on non-verbal cues and “read the room,” even when working through translators
Persuasive yet Diplomatic – Knows how to influence decisions and encourage calculated risks without creating tension
Relationship Builder – Skilled at earning trust and connecting with people from different backgrounds
Emotionally Intelligent – Handles sensitive situations calmly and resolves conflicts in a constructive way
Inclusive Leader – Brings a multicultural team together and makes everyone feel valued and aligned
Having worked in a start up is a plus
Experience with developing a business is a plus
