Civil Paralegal

NEOGOV is seeking a full-time Civil Paralegal to join the Island County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. This role involves providing paralegal support in various civil matters and requires strong communication skills and a commitment to public service.

Responsibilities

Provide paralegal support to the attorneys of the Civil Division
Maintain client confidences and comply with the Rules of Professional Conduct
Assist attorneys in preparing, organizing, filing, and serving legal pleadings, exhibits, and discovery
Schedule and attend court and administrative hearings and proceedings
Review potential changes to the Island County Code
Conduct pre-attorney review of contracts
Communicate effectively with others by mail, email, and telephone
Maintain calendars, files, correspondence and documents
Respond to public records requests
Other duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's Degree, Paralegal Certificate, Professional Legal Secretary (PLS), and/or equivalent work experience
Valid driver's license
Knowledge of, and experience with, civil laws applicable in a municipal practice
Knowledge of legal terminology, proper format for legal pleadings and briefs, and rules and procedures of courts and administrative bodies
Ability to recognize and maintain confidentiality of sensitive material
Strong organizational and communication abilities
Strong user-level computer skills
Strong written and oral communication skills
