Responsibilities
Own end-to-end data platforms (batch + streaming)
Build and operate high-throughput streaming pipelines (Kafka-first)
Design lakehouse architectures for analytics and ML
Ensure data reliability: SLAs, monitoring, backfills, recovery
Make long-term platform architecture decisions
Partner with product, ML, and analytics teams as a platform owner
Qualification
Required
7+ years Data Engineering experience
Senior/Staff-level ownership of production data platforms
Experience at Tier-1 enterprises (FAANG, large SaaS, Fortune 100)
Strong distributed systems background
Apache Kafka (production ownership)
Apache Spark (batch + streaming)
Python or Scala
Apache Iceberg / Delta Lake / Hudi
Airflow (or equivalent orchestration)
Cloud platforms: AWS, GCP, or Azure
Data warehouses: Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift
Preferred
TB–PB scale data systems
Billions of events processed
Platforms used by multiple internal teams
Experience with SLAs, incidents, and reliability
Simplifying and scaling complex systems
