Essentia, Inc. is seeking an OSP Resident Engineer to provide engineering oversight for fiber optic outside-plant construction. The role involves ensuring contractor performance aligns with design packages, permit requirements, and safety standards, while also conducting inspections and managing documentation.

Responsibilities

Act as the lead field authority for construction alignment to engineered drawings as the owner representative

Interpret OSP plans (UG, Aerial, Make-Ready, Splice Plans)

Conduct QA/QC inspections, verify installed quantities, and track materials

Produce redlines and recommend field-engineered adjustments for unforeseen conditions

Validate compliance with permit, environmental, and safety requirements

Maintain field logs, photo documentation, and acceptance packages

Review contractor pay estimates and support change order analysis

Lead readiness, punch-list, and final acceptance walkthroughs

Qualification

OSP fiber constructionEngineering design packagesRUS complianceOSHA 1926 standardsField reporting toolsSupervising contractorsDocumentation skills

Required

5+ years OSP fiber construction or engineering experience

Ability to read detailed engineering design packages

Familiarity with RUS, NTIA, BEAD, or ARPA funded broadband project compliance

Proficient with field reporting and documentation tools

Ability to travel up to 75%+

Preferred

Experience supervising or directing contractors

Familiarity with NESC, OSHA 1926, and MUTCD standards
