Responsibilities

Prepare and/or approve assigned journal entries
Assist with and review monthly close activities and balance sheet reconciliations
Provide close support for January through May, including increased audit-related activity
Assist with audit workpapers, schedules, journal entries, and audit support documentation
Respond to auditor requests and manage portal Q&A
Support a potential Single Audit, including SEFA preparation and related documentation (if required)
Assist with and/or oversee grant tracking, reporting, and compliance for federal and non-federal grants
Support grant maintenance, modifications, applications, and budget development
Participate in grant-related meetings with internal departments and program teams
Ensure alignment with grant terms, budgets, and reporting requirements
Oversee Avalara sales & use tax processes
Review monthly state sales & use tax returns prepared by an external tax provider
Maintain documentation and compliance files related to indirect tax reporting

Required

Prior experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Senior Accounting Manager
Strong nonprofit accounting background
Hands-on experience with grant accounting and audit support
Comfortable reviewing and preparing journal entries and reconciliations

Preferred

Exposure to Single Audits and SEFA preparation strongly preferred
