Responsibilities
You will administer environmental compliance regulations/permits such as the Clean Water Act (CWA), and Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA)
You will serve as a technical expert on the installation's Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), Storm Management Program (SWMP) and NPDES Wastewater Discharge permit
You will serve as a representative on matters related to the drinking water, storm water, wastewater, and spill response programs
You will conduct inspections and self-audits of environmental units and operations to ensure compliance with environmental regulations, policies, instructions and installation permit
You will develop and conduct environmental training pertinent to permit requirements and installation operations
You will review specifications, drawings, and contracts to ensure compliance to environmental permits and regulations
Qualification
Required
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: 1) Manages one or more highly technical Environmental programs with no direct technical supervision; 2) Performs self-audits of assigned program to verify compliance with applicable standards for water, waste water, ground water, potable water, air, or hazardous waste; 3) Serves as technical subject matter expert and provide guidance to leadership on matters pertaining to assigned program; and 4) Works closely with office staff, base tenants and regulators to reach mutually beneficial solutions to problems
Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: GS-0401 Professional Biological Science Series: Have a degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or a related discipline appropriate to this position OR Have a combination of education and experience in one of the above majors that includes at least 24 semester hours in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or a discipline related to this position plus appropriate experience or additional education
GS-0819 Professional Environmental Engineering Series: Have successfully completed a bachelor's degree (or higher) in engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics
GS-1301 Professional Physical Science Series: Have successfully completed a bachelor's degree or higher in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics
