Creative Coach
Turnkey Marketing is dedicated to helping small businesses succeed. The Creative Coach serves as a technical authority and advocate for all creative roles, ensuring that the creative team has the necessary training, tools, and standards to deliver exceptional work while fostering collaboration and innovation.
Responsibilities
Define and document company-wide creative standards (quality, voice, structure, brand alignment)
Clearly separate: Non-negotiables (must be consistent across all pods) Flexible areas (where pods can experiment and evolve)
Regularly review and update standards as platforms, clients, and the company evolve
Create and maintain role-specific training for creatives, including: Onboarding materials Advanced skill development Platform-specific best practices
Identify skill gaps across pods and proactively address them
Ensure training is practical, actionable, and easy to apply, not theoretical
Train and mentor new creatives in role-specific training
Serve as the go-to expert creatives can come to for: Technical questions Creative problem-solving Platform or tool guidance Best practices
Help creatives think through how to execute ideas effectively — without stepping into pod leadership or decision-making authority
Actively work to remove 'us vs. them' dynamics between: Creatives and admins Creatives and account managers Creatives and pod leaders
Advocate for creative realities while also helping creatives understand: Client goals Operational constraints Company-wide priorities
Constantly look for ways creative work can better support: Client retention and happiness Operational efficiency Turnkey’s purpose, mission and values
Stay current on industry trends, platforms, tools and best practices
Test new ideas, tools, and approaches and share learnings across pods
Collect feedback from creatives and other departments to improve systems and training
Improve how we do things so that the work is done more efficiently and effectively
Regularly evaluate creative workflows and tools
Implement time-saving AI workflows to increase efficiency, reduce repetitive work, reduce errors, and increase creative capacity
Identify opportunities for automation, simplification, and clarity
Partner with leadership to roll out improvements thoughtfully and collaboratively
Qualification
Required
Proven success as a high-performing individual contributor in a creative role
Deep understanding of how their role fits into pods, client outcomes, and company goals
Deep desire and ability to reduce wedges and make everyone win
Strong written communication skills (training, documentation, standards)
Emotional intelligence and the ability to influence others even without final authority
Strongly demonstrated alignment with Turnkey's values
Demonstrated ability to quickly and efficiently bring an idea to completion
Curiosity and even eagerness when it comes to curating AI workflows and seeing them through completion
Experience mentoring or informally training peers
Experience working across multiple pods or clients
Comfort with change, iteration, and feedback
Systems-thinking mindset
Ability to be in office during office hours
