Structural Engineer (PE)
Burgess Construction Consultants, Inc. is looking for an experienced Structural Engineer to join their team. The role involves producing calculations, plans, and details, interacting with clients and government agencies, and performing field inspections.
Responsibilities
Perform structural analysis and design for residential, multi-family, retail, and light commercial structures, as well as retaining wall foundations
Create structural design drawings, calculations, and details
Perform project control tasks, including project scheduling, budgeting, and cost control
Manage multi-discipline design and construction projects
Interact with other engineers, contractors, fabricators, and government agencies
Provide direct onsite field observations and resolve field conflicts in real time
Qualification
Required
Minimum of 3 years of Residential Design experience
At least 7 years of experience designing foundations and buildings
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering required
Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) with 7-10 years of practicing experience
Ability to pursue licensure as P.E. in multiple states
Knowledge of American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) steel manual, American Concrete Institute (ACI) code 318, American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) 7, and International Building Codes (IBC)
Knowledge of local building codes and requirements
Experience creating structural drawings/details in AutoCAD, Revit, or similar drafting programs
Proficiency with industry standard building design software (RAM Structural Systems, Concept, RAM Elements, etc.)
Proficiency with building structure design (steel, concrete, wood, precast, etc.)
Understanding of other disciplines, such as, mechanical, electrical, geotechnical, and surveying
Strong communication – both written and verbal
Must be willing to travel
Preferred

Willingness to learn
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
Must be able to travel to various project sites
Must be able to access and navigate job sites and construction areas
