Associate Research Specialist (Dr. Huang's Lab)
Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) is a leading pediatric hospital that provides exceptional care for children. The Associate Research Specialist will conduct laboratory research focused on pediatric neural cancer, performing experiments, maintaining cell cultures, and assisting with lab management duties.

Responsibilities
Conduct routine laboratory research procedures
Follow protocol to perform experiments
Tabulate data and may assist with analysis
Perform routine equipment maintenance and orders supplies
Provide instruction to support personnel
Maintain and differentiate human stem cells
Clone DNA constructs
Perform genome editing using CRISPR
Conduct transduction/transfections
Perform flow cytometry
Execute western blot
Carry out RT-qPCR
Perform immunofluorescence
Conduct immunohistochemistry
Perform mouse surgeries
Assist in lab managerial duties (e.g. lab ordering, troubleshooting broken equipment, etc)
Present at lab meetings
Lead a project(s)
Be a co-author or first author on publication(s)
Qualification
Required
Experience working in a laboratory environment required
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a scientific field
Applicants must have completed their bachelor's degree by their anticipated start date
Must be willing to rotate with 2-3 other lab mates to maintain cell cultures over the weekends
Must be committed to working for at least 2 years
Preferred
1+ years experience performing laboratory research
Previous work in a biology research lab for at least 6 months
At least 3 months of experience performing mammalian cell culture
Previous experience working with live mice and human stem cells
