Curriculum Developer
The Virginia Department of Social Services is seeking a Curriculum Developer to enhance learning experiences for social services professionals across Virginia. This role involves developing and improving curricula, collaborating with subject matter experts, and managing the production of training materials.
Responsibilities
Conduct topic research; write, edit, revise, and format the curricula according to guidelines
Determine the most effective mode of delivery, whether in-person, virtual instructor-led, or self-paced eLearning
Design and produce curriculum materials tailored to each delivery format
Manage overall production of assigned curricula, including managing pilots of new or revised material and developing the evaluation criteria
Act as a liaison with VDSS program and divisional staff regarding final distribution of the curriculum
Keep programs, division leaders, and workgroups apprised of needs and progress
Provide assistance to trainers as needed
Qualification
Required
Experience in developing or revising training curriculum and working with subject matter experts to design, write, course content for training
Experience in instructor-led, virtual, and asynchronous training assessment, design, delivery and evaluation
Applied knowledge of instructional design methods grounded in adult learning theory, trauma-informed design, and brain-based learning principles
Knowledge of and/experience with local department of social services program administration and services delivery or similar working across a state's state/regional/local delivery systems
Ability to project manage the development process including development timelines, internal and external customers stakeholder input, and revision cycle, as well as involving stakeholders in the review and piloting of courses
Demonstrated experience and skill in interpreting and applying policy regulations and guidelines in the area of Prevention and/or Permanency services including considerable knowledge of at least three of the following areas: Family Engagement, Trauma Informed Practice, In-Home Services, Family Reunification, and Adoptions
Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing, meet deadlines, travel to deliver training, participate in meetings to address statewide training needs and interact with all levels of DSS & other State and Local entities
Competency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Teams) and Adobe applications required
Must have valid driver's license
Preferred
Experience with asynchronous eLearning development platforms, such as Articulate Storyline or Rise
