Assistant Director of Athletic Turf/Grounds

Responsibilities
Oversee proper care and maintenance of athletic fields, turf, grounds, and landscapes. Assist in planning, supervising, and executing maintenance of athletic fields, turf, grounds, and landscapes
Supervise full-time, part-time, and student athletic grounds keepers. Including scheduling, training, and evaluation
Responsible for all aspects of maintenance, upkeep, renovation, and restoration of assigned areas, including common areas and hardscapes. Responsible for ensuring safe playing and practice surfaces for Division I athletes. Responsible for determining sod replacement, scheduling of fertilization, irrigation, pesticide applications, mowing, and striping of practice and competition surfaces based on weather, athletic schedules and agronomic consideration
Responsible for purchasing, use, and inventory of all supplies for day-to-day operations including fertilizers, pesticides, calcite clays, and cleaning supplies for assigned areas and athletic turf/grounds. Responsible for ordering, use, and inventory of equipment for assigned areas

Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent and 2 years of professional experience
Supervisory and/or leadership experience
Experience in care and maintenance of athletic turf and grounds
Knowledge of infield skin, pitching mound, and home plate maintenance and construction
Experience with pesticide selection, applications, and calibrations
Ability to work nontraditional hours to include nights, weekends, and some holidays
Ability to drive
Preferred
Experience as a grounds foreman working with a Division I athletic program
