Assistant Controller
Cogo Nation is a dynamic company operating at the intersection of real estate education, private lending, commercial development, and digital marketing. They are seeking an Assistant Controller - Revenue Management to oversee revenue accounting, ensure GAAP compliance, and provide insights to leadership while partnering cross-functionally to improve processes.

Responsibilities
Prepare, reconcile, and post revenue-related journal entries, including revenue, deferred revenue, merchant clearing, commissions, and COGS
Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue reconciliations
Record deferred revenue adjustments in alignment with revenue recognition policies
Support month-end close and financial reporting processes
Prepare and distribute weekly sales and revenue reports to leadership
Analyze revenue trends, variances, and performance metrics to support forecasting and decision-making
Manage merchant processor and joint venture (JV) relationships and reconciliations
Calculate, reconcile, and document commissions and bonus payouts
Partner with Sales and Fulfillment teams to improve revenue accuracy and reduce refunds or chargebacks
Develop and maintain revenue recognition policies, procedures, and audit documentation
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
5+ years of progressive accounting experience with a focus on revenue and reconciliations
Strong knowledge of GAAP revenue recognition principles
Experience with deferred revenue, merchant accounts, and commission structures
Advanced Excel skills with strong analytical capabilities
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities with exceptional attention to detail
Clear communication skills and a high standard of integrity and accountability
Preferred
CPA or CPA-eligible status
Experience in high-volume, transaction-based or services environments
Experience working with merchant processors and JV revenue-share agreements
ERP experience (NetSuite or similar preferred)
Prior experience in a lead or supervisory accounting role
