Clinical Trials Accountant

Responsibilities

Serves as a budgetary accounting resource responsible for managing and maintaining research specific billing and invoicing with an interdisciplinary team to continually optimize the system to deliver a product that makes efficient use of resources
Conduct audits and analysis, collaborating with internal/external partners to ensure accuracy of all trials budgets revenue and expenses
Provides direction on financial policies and procedures needed to ensure efficiencies
Responsible for developing fiscal reports to include maintaining and summarizing various sources of operational data to support financial reporting, cost accounting, budgeting and procurement

Required

Bachelor's degree
Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field
2 years of related accounting experience
Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook
Strong written, verbal and analytical skills
Ability to become an avid and confident user of UNMC and NM accounting systems
Knowledge of accounting rules and regulations
Exceptional organizational skills, flexibility and the ability to work well under pressure
Ability to interpret and apply sponsor, institutional and departmental policies
Ability to manage high volume and complex transactions
General business acumen and vision to include common sense, good judgement, negotiation skills, basic accounting, financial statement knowledge including accurate interpretation and analysis and ability to anticipate and forecast programmatic needs of the accounting software
Advanced proficiency in analytic reasoning and strategic planning to understand budgets and administrative policies and processes
Understanding of regulatory framework and internal controls (financial and compliance) and ability to apply them within the division
Ability to assess risk and problem solve by critically evaluating alternative courses of action and arriving at solutions that are best for both the division and UNMC/NM as a whole
Exhibits a style of participatory leadership that fosters a climate of respect and collegiality to include competency regarding conflict management, supervision, mentoring and team building
Working knowledge of related technological resources/software to include enterprise systems and the MS Office suite
Ability to collaborate and manage across multiple organizations
Knowledge of and compliance with award-specific contract specifications
Ability to interact with sponsors, subcontractors and collaborators across the enterprise
A positive attitude

Preferred

Healthcare and/or Clinical Research related accounting experience
Microsoft Access, SAP
Experience with all types of award mechanisms including grants, contracts, subcontracts and cooperative agreements
Understanding pre-award budget preparation and related regulations such as Medicare Coverage Analysis and post-award administration
