This role will advance small-molecule programmes from early discovery through IND-enabling and first-in-human studies, working closely with project teams and external partners to manage safety risks effectively.

Responsibilities
Own and shape the nonclinical toxicology strategy across multiple programmes
Act as the toxicology lead on project teams, providing clear, practical guidance on safety risk and development options
Design and oversee nonclinical safety studies, including general tox, safety pharmacology, genotox, and reproductive tox where needed
Interpret complex data and communicate findings clearly to project teams and senior leadership
Provide toxicology input to IND submissions and support interactions with the FDA
Manage CROs and external vendors, ensuring studies are delivered to high scientific and regulatory standards
As the organisation grows, help build and mentor internal toxicology capability
Qualification
Required
PhD (or equivalent) in Toxicology, Pharmacology, or a related discipline
Substantial industry experience in nonclinical toxicology within biotech, pharma, or a CRO
A strong track record of supporting compounds through IND-enabling development
Solid understanding of FDA and ICH nonclinical safety expectations
Confidence making and defending safety-related decisions in a fast-moving environment
Preferred
Experience working on small-molecule programmes
Direct involvement in FDA interactions
Previous experience leading or building a toxicology function
