Weekend Motorsport Event Staff Positions (US - California)
Smedley Group is dedicated to increasing participation in motorsport through the FAT Karting League, which hosts karting events across California. They are seeking enthusiastic individuals to join their weekend staff crew for various roles in motorsport events, including event management, customer experience, and technical support.

Responsibilities
We are looking for somebody with event organisation and management skills with experience at motorsport events, to assist at our events
We are looking for someone with lots of energy, enthusiasm and great customer service skills. They will need to be empathetic, calm and work well under pressure
We are looking for a number of skilled and unskilled mechanics roles with various levels of experience to join our team to assist in the preparation and maintenance of karts. Skilled mechanics should have experienced in either race cars, motorbikes or karts. For these positions, we have full and part time roles
We are looking for experienced individuals to be responsible for our judicial processing and implementation of sporting regulations
We are looking for individuals to assist with on track incidents, recovering karts and to warn drivers via flags or marshal lights. An understanding of motorsport rules is important for this role
We are looking for individuals to assist with the smooth operation of our pitlane by ensuring karts and drivers are ready for the next session or race
We are looking for an experienced motorsport timekeeper, preferably with experience of Alpha Timing
We are looking for people with a passion and understanding of motorsport who feel they could work as driver coaches to pass that knowledge on. These people will need to have good communication skills and need to be comfortable communicating with and working with children
We are looking for someone with good people and organisation skills who can work well under pressure and has the confidence to be a team leader. Experience in motorsport desirable but not essential. This role might suit someone who has previous experience of working with children
We are looing for someone who can diagnose and fault find software issues
Qualification
Required
Event Manager: event organisation and management skills with experience at motorsport events
Customer Experience Lead: lots of energy, enthusiasm and great customer service skills; empathetic, calm and able to work well under pressure
Mechanics: skilled and unskilled mechanics roles with various levels of experience; skilled mechanics should have experience in either race cars, motorbikes or karts
Race Director / Clerk: experienced individuals responsible for judicial processing and implementation of sporting regulations
Marshals: assist with on track incidents, recovering karts and warning drivers via flags or marshal lights; understanding of motorsport rules is important
Dummy Grid Marshall: assist with the smooth operation of the pitlane by ensuring karts and drivers are ready for the next session or race
Timekeeper: experienced motorsport timekeeper, preferably with experience of Alpha Timing
Driver Coaches: passion and understanding of motorsport; good communication skills; comfortable communicating with and working with children
Pit lane Coordinator: good people and organisation skills; able to work well under pressure; confidence to be a team leader; experience in motorsport desirable but not essential; previous experience of working with children might be suitable
Kart Technician: able to diagnose and fault find software issues
