Mid, Senior LevelRobert Half is seeking an IT Security & Compliance Architect to support the college's participation in Department of Defense research initiatives, focusing on achieving and maintaining CMMC compliance. The role involves leading security architecture reviews, compliance documentation, and implementation oversight in a Microsoft 365 cloud-based environment, ensuring alignment between technical controls and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities
Lead and support CMMC compliance efforts, including gap analysis and remediation planning
Perform security architecture reviews and risk assessments
Ensure appropriate access controls, identity management, and data protection practices
Align security controls with DoD and institutional compliance requirements
Review and advise on security architecture across cloud and on-prem environments
Support networking and firewall transitions, including Palo Alto to Fortinet migration and support Zscaler systems
Provide guidance on secure system design and implementation best practices
Assess and secure Microsoft 365 cloud environment, including IAM, Purview, Permissions, Security Configuration, Policy review
Develop comprehensive security and compliance documentation and procedures
Qualification
Required
Experience with CMMC and/or DoD compliance frameworks
Strong background in security architecture and infrastructure security
Hands-on knowledge of Microsoft 365 / cloud security environments / Purview governance tool
Understanding of networking concepts, access controls, and firewall technologies
Experience creating and maintaining compliance and security documentation
Ability to balance technical depth with big-picture, business-focused thinking
Ability to work onsite on a regular basis in Columbia, SC
Preferred
Experience in higher education or research environments
Familiarity with Palo Alto and Fortinet security products
Experience working in hybrid or evolving security regimes
Experience with high performance computing (HPC) and Linux-based systems
