Director of Strategic Initiatives
The City of New York's Department of Transportation (DOT) is dedicated to the safe and efficient movement of people and goods in the city. They are seeking a Director of Strategic Initiatives to manage special projects, support senior leadership, and enhance workplace operations and culture.

Responsibilities
Manage implementation of special projects and strategic priorities at DOT; collaborate with agency leadership to conduct strategic planning; project manage, track actions, and conduct follow-ups across DOT on key initiatives
Elevate and organize key issues on special projects to the Commissioner’s Office for action; create memos/background materials/presentations summarizing complex issues and key decision points, prepare agendas for Commissioner meetings related to special projects and initiatives in coordination with the Chief of Staff
Serve as one of the liaisons to City Hall on special projects; ensure alignment between Mayoral priorities and agency actions; escalate agency issues to City Hall/DMO as directed by the Chief of Staff as-needed
Help DOT teams create and implement internal systems and processes to improve equity and clarity; coordinate team building activities to foster collaboration; organize professional development opportunities for staff; cultivate a supportive and inclusive workplace culture
Qualification
Required
A Masters degree in Public Administration, planning, architecture, policy, and environmental
Preferred
Significant community outreach experience and skill in developing/managing community based programs
Prior experience dealing effectively with various governmental agencies, community boards, union officials and private citizens
Ability to work with extreme accuracy under restrictive deadlines
Skill in navigating large informational databases and transposing data into comprehensive reports
Knowledge of emerging technologies for image and street analytics
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
