Human Resources Director
Akkodis is seeking a Human Resources Director for a Direct-Hire job with a client located in Irvine, CA. The Director of Human Resources will focus on strategic operational excellence, organizational risk management, and compliance with HR-related legal and regulatory requirements, while overseeing employee policy adherence and compliance training delivery.
Responsibilities
Take full, end-to-end ownership of all HR-related legal and regulatory compliance matters across the organization and, in collaboration with the COMPANY Legal Department and/or external legal counsel, help translate complex, multi-state requirements into actionable policy, procedure, and mandated training for the entire Company
Serve as the senior-level escalation point for highly complex and sensitive employee relations issues and assigned internal investigations, ensuring thorough documentation and final resolution meets all regulatory standards, as well as internal Company policy, procedure, and protocol
Oversee the creation, annual auditing, and executive approval of all employee handbooks and HR policies, ensuring they are current, legally sound, and effectively disseminated through the training function
Act as the key operational liaison to the COMPANY Legal Department with respect to the engagement of external employment counsel, collaborate with the Legal and Ethics & Compliance Departments with regard to all employment and HR compliance matters, and, in consultation with COMPANY Legal and, as needed, with external legal counsel, direct the preparation of information for governmental agency reporting
Partner directly with the HRIS Specialist to ensure system optimization, data security, accurate regulatory reporting, and the overall integrity of all HR data. This includes owning the system-level strategy for complex processes like annual enrollment and performance management
Identify, design, and implement high-impact improvements across core operational processes (e.g., streamlining onboarding, offboarding, performance tracking, HR compliance training delivery) to enhance enterprise-level efficiency and effectiveness. The VP HR focuses on the vision (e.g., succession planning), while the Director focuses on the architecture and systems to support it
Ensure seamless, strategic integration between HR systems (HRIS), employee policy execution (Generalist), and training dissemination (L&D Coordinator), guaranteeing process alignment and data consistency across the HR lifecycle
Provide direct daily supervision, coaching, and performance management to the HRIS Specialist, HR Generalist (Employee Experience), and the L&D Training Coordinator. This role is the final operational escalation point for issues within the managed teams, providing decisive resolution and clear direction
Support the VPHR in executing the Company's workforce plan, focusing on compliance and system readiness to incorporate current and future internal and external changes impacting people's needs
Qualification
Required
Minimum bachelor's degree in human resources, management, psychology, or related discipline; relevant education and experience accepted in lieu of degree
HRCI, SHRM-CP, or PHR Certification is required
10+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5 years in a senior management or director-level role focused heavily on HR compliance, HRIS, and operational leadership
Experience working in healthcare or other regulated industry
Experience supporting a large and diverse employee population that includes local and remote employees
Possesses in-depth knowledge of U.S. labor law, complex employee relations, and effective management of HR Information Systems (HRIS)
Demonstrates strong communication skills through active listening, articulate speaking, and clear, professional writing. Crafts instructions and policies that are concise, easily understood, and legally sound
Experienced in delivering presentations to both employees and management
Exhibits advanced proficiency with the MS Office Suite, as well as with HR-specific applications and systems. Maintains utmost discretion and judgment in handling confidential information, displaying patience, courtesy, and tact at all times
Completes assignments independently and collaboratively, adapting efficiently to shifting requirements, deadlines, and priorities
Builds productive relationships with internal stakeholders and is adept at providing constructive feedback when necessary
Analyzes complex issues thoroughly to identify consequences and achieve positive outcomes. Resolves challenges swiftly and effectively
