Responsibilities

Serve as legal counsel to the Louisiana Department of Health by providing legal, consultative, and administrative support within the Bureau of Legal Services at headquarters

Provide highly technical legal advice, assistance, and consultation to the Office of Management and Finance on matters involving federal and state Medicaid law, financial eligibility, and program operations

Advise and support Medicaid Financial Eligibility, Medicaid Financial Eligibility Appeals, and Medicaid Unwind programs on legal issues, policy interpretation, and compliance requirements

Collaborate extensively with Medicaid program staff to analyze legal issues, support program implementation, and resolve complex operational and regulatory challenges

Assist with special litigation projects involving state or federal Medicaid matters, including cases with department-wide impact or significant legal or policy implications

Research, analyze, and interpret applicable laws, regulations, and policies to support informed decision-making and ensure compliance across LDH programs and financial operations
