Director of AI Research Solutions/Senior Research Associate, 12 Month Salaried (Information Technology Services)

This role involves collaborating with various departments to foster AI adoption and enhance the university's reputation in AI research and innovation.

Responsibilities
Serve as the primary technical advisor in AI domains, including but not limited to machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, computer vision, generative AI, and data science, supporting faculty, staff, and student researchers
Design and implement programs that integrate AI methodologies into research activities; provide guidance on resource acquisition and establish service protocols in alignment with institutional objectives
Lead university-wide initiatives to optimize AI resources and infrastructure, chair relevant working groups, and develop communications that articulate the impact of AI research
Maintain expertise in emerging AI technologies and best practices; contribute to national academic forums and assist in shaping the university’s AI strategy
Collaborate with ITS and OVPR to formulate financial models supporting sustainable AI services
Qualification
Required
Master's degree from an accredited institution with demonstrated record of academic research achievement, or professional qualifications in the field of specialization above those which would be equivalent to the highest degree
Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Research Associate
Additional education and experience as required by position
Preferred
Master's degree required; PhD preferred
Minimum three years of recent experience working with AI in research-focused academic or industry settings
