Director of Development, The Arts at FSU
Florida State University is currently in the leadership phase of a comprehensive campaign and is excited to build out its team in the Division of University Advancement. The Director of Development will strategically execute a personal solicitation program to secure philanthropic support for The Arts at FSU, focusing on major and principal gifts while collaborating with key internal development officers.

Strategically execute a personal solicitation program resulting in philanthropic support by maximizing the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of prospects for gifts at the $100,000 and up level for The Arts at FSU
Secure, on an annual basis, private support at the major and principal gift level and be responsible for identification of potential major and principal gift prospects strategically focusing on College of Motion Picture Arts (MPA), and College of Fine Arts (CFA) in collaboration with key internal development officers
Fundraising support for the College of Music and Opening Nights will be secondary and occur as needed
Travel to Los Angeles, New York City, Washington D.C., and Chicago markets is expected
Uphold and exemplify the operating practices of the Division of University Advancement while raising philanthropic dollars in support of the mission of Florida State University
Work with the Deans of MPS and CFA and college-based development, communication, and alumni teams to execute strategic fundraising initiatives on behalf of the MPA, CFA and the university
Develop, coordinate, and execute an annual major gift plan, implementing fundraising activities designed to meet an established monetary goal while also hitting a set suite of metrics
Establish new relationships resulting in philanthropic investment, maintain existing relationships, which may generate new philanthropic investments, and provide prospect/donor-related assessments and feedback for the Colleges and the Division of University Advancement
Identify, qualify, and sustain a donor prospect portfolio with individuals who have a giving capacity of $500,000 or more
Secure gifts and pledges from alumni, parents, faculty, staff, and friends of FSU
Exhibit and promote a comprehensive understanding of the philanthropic priorities of the Colleges, effectively matching the specific interests of prospects to those needs
Plan for and initiate direct activities with prospects that are designed to enhance the affiliation between the prospect and FSU
Effectively communicate FSU’s mission and represent FSU’s values to external stakeholders
Coordinate with the Division of University Advancement colleagues to identify prospects for planned giving, corporate and foundation giving in partnership with the Office of University Research, and principal giving in partnership with the Principal Gifts Team
Protect confidential information
Assist in the facilitation of meetings, communications, information exchanges and project/philanthropic coordination with the faculty and faculty chairs
Prepare proposals and gift agreements as required for proper gift documentation
Prepare correspondence with prospects and document communications, solicitation activity and gift information in compliance with the FSU Foundation’s reporting guidelines
Create, inspire, and maintain donor loyalty, interest and enthusiasm through stewardship communication and activities designed to express recognition, appreciation, and the impact of their gift(s)
Implement a stewardship plan that may include letters, communication of unit or university initiatives, invitations to appropriate activities, meetings, events, student engagement or the facilitation of campus visits
Provide occasional support in managing volunteer boards affiliated with the arts at FSU
Qualification
Required
Master's degree and four years of experience in a related advancement field; or Bachelor's degree and six years of related experience
Must have a valid Florida or Georgia Driver's License, or the ability to obtain prior to hire
