Sr. Quality Engineer (Automotive Manufacturing)

Responsibilities

Must have experience in metal stamping and weld assembly in the automotive industry
Must have direct experience building and executing a QMS for an automotive supplier
Direct management experience, preferably with hourly and salary team members is preferred
Working knowledge of GD&T with the ability to interpret CMM dimensional reports and make recommendations for production parts, samples, and prototypes as required by the quality system
Experience with AIAG core tools; APQP, PPAP, MSA & SPC, FMEA, and Control Plans
Must be able to collaborate with the appropriate resources to effectively problem solve through resolution
Experience working through customer audits and surveys (i.e., VDA, SAQ)
Strong working knowledge of problem-solving tools including; 8D, 5Why, Pareto charts (cause and effect) and Ishikawa diagrams
Responsible for investigating internal concerns along with external customer concerns, implementing corrective action and validating the root cause as needed
Proactively investigate ways to improve the process to reduce waste, scrap and customer concerns
Travel to customers and Suppliers when required for problem solving and containment activities
Provide feedback on dimensional reports to Tooling, Engineering and Production teams
Work with production associates to assure the proper usage of measurement instruments on the production floor
Must have experience with IATF and ISO audit processes, policies and procedures
Must work safely as a condition of employment
Must be available as business requirements dictate, which may include working at different days and times
Perform other related duties as required

Required

Bachelor's degree in relevant field of study from four year college or university, required
Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) model launch experience required
Experience with basic computer systems (i.e., MS Office, Outlook)
Experience with ERP's (i.e., SAP, Plex, etc.)
Strong Communication skills; written and verbal
Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, etc
Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Apply mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, as well as basic algebra
Detail oriented
Organized and able to meet deadlines while performing multiple duties
Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists

Preferred

Direct management experience, preferably with hourly and salary team members is preferred
Eight (8) or more years of experience working in the Quality function of an automotive manufacturing environment, strongly preferred
Ten (10) or more years of experience working in a fast paced automotive (OEM/Supplier) environment, strongly preferred
Two (2) or more years of direct management experience of department staff
Experience working through the IATF certification and audit process
