Lead Electrical Controls Engineer

Nammo Defense Systems, Inc is a company focused on establishing a solid rocket motor manufacturing facility. They are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Lead Electrical Controls Engineer to develop and maintain control systems that support the production and testing of munitions, collaborating closely with various engineering groups.

Responsibilities

Design and develop new control systems including PLC/HMI programming and VFD programming along with having the ability to produce the appropriate schematics
Coordinate equipment purchasing for the new rocket motor facility
Working to transition and commission new equipment to the new rocket motor facility
Assist with Design, Development, and Layout of Electrical Panels for new and existing equipment. Including specifying all components that are used and assuring those components meet all safety and electrical requirements
Document all new and existing equipment panel layouts and electrical schematics utilizing AutoCAD Electrical 2024
Experience in Arc-flash hazard analysis / calculations
Experience in designing and specifying the electrical panels and components that meet hazardous location wiring codes
Identify and implement solutions to PLC control logic relating to improving safety, quality, production, and cost
Ensure that equipment is installed and maintained in conformance with current codes and regulations
Recommend improvements to new and existing equipment to optimize the production process and determine corrective actions
Serve as primary point of contact for all controls related troubleshooting
Determine preventative maintenance actions and provide supporting documentation to maintenance
Collaborate with the maintenance and operational groups on preventative maintenance, machine repair, predictive maintenance, equipment performance, and design improvements
Maintain good employee relations, and adhere to our Affirmative Action Plan, Labor laws and EEOC rules and regulations
Maintain adherence to Company policies and procedures, safety and environmental standards, and good housekeeping practices

Required

Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably Controls and/or Electrical Engineering, or combination of education and 5 years work experience
At least 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment providing technical support to semi-automated and manual processes
Must have knowledge and working efficiency in using Siemens PLC S7-1500 with WinCC Advanced Runtime (PC based interface), SIMATIC Step 7 Professional TIA Portal V20, SIMATIC Step 7 Safety Advanced V20, SIMATIC Sinamics Startdrive Advanced V20, SIMATIC WinCC Advanced V20, and SIMATIC WinCC Runtime Advanced V20 or similar Siemens related platforms
Familiar with Emerson PAC Machine Edition Version 10 and Prolficy Machine Edition Version 9
Strong fundamental knowledge of control and electrical system design and its application in automated industrial designs including specification of vision, power, sensor, inspection, and communications systems
Able to work in AutoCAD Electrical Version 2014
Familiar with Cognex vision cameras
Proficient with MS Office Suite
Ability to create and troubleshoot PLC/HMI code
Ability to create and troubleshoot electrical and pneumatic schematics
Ability to program and troubleshoot VFDs, servo actuators, and robots
Ability to read and follow mechanical drawings
Ability to balance multiple projects at one time
Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC) within an industrial environment
Familiarity with Process Safety Management (PSM) plans or equivalent
Self-starter, ability to work independently and handle multiple projects timely and efficiently; meeting specified deadlines
Good communication skills, both oral and written
Must submit to and pass a drug test pursuant to Company Drug-Free Workplace Policy
Must have good vision (may be corrected)
Must be able to communicate written and verbally
Must be able to travel
Must be able to stand, walk, and sit for prolonged periods of time, and be able to lift up to 20 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation
Must be willing and able to work outside of the standard work schedule, including nights and weekends
Must be able to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance (Requires U.S. Citizenship)
