ADAS Surround View Camera Feature Engineer

Responsibilities

Act as the Authority of Ford’s end-to-end design, implementation, and validation of camera-based human-visualization Features including Rear View Camera (FMVSS111), Birdseye 360 and numerous other view experiences on both interior displays as well as off-board devices possible through 360 surround view cameras, including: Off-Road Views, Pro Trailer Views, Offboard Video Streaming, Onboard Video Recording, and more
Collaborate with Product Design and Digital Design teams to define the roadmap and scope of Ford’s Camera Experience Features, including the look and feel we want our customers to experience
Engage with Automotive Safety Office (ASO) and Office of the General Counsel (OGC) to ensure Ford's solutions comply with legal and regulatory requirements, including FMVSS111
Drive the decomposition of the Features and the allocation and orchestration of functionality across Ford’s vehicle domains, including Motion Control, Power Supply, Camera Systems, Cloud Connectivity, and In-Vehicle Infotainment
Ensure the robustness of our camera features by leading the development of requirements, Boundary diagrams, design analysis, Failure Mode Avoidance, robustness fields and test procedures
Work with Hardware, platform, Software and Test teams to ensure Feature requirements are cascaded, aligned, and accepted
Drive continuous improvement in test coverage and test techniques to proactively find and resolve technical issues early in the product development cycle, including simulation and vehicle prototypes
Work with Functional Safety engineers to develop and refine feature functional safety requirements, item definition, hazard analysis/risk assessment and functional safety concept incompliance with ISO-26262/Ford Functional Safety process
Ensure new features seamlessly integrate with existing features to provide a superb customer experience
Support development of Design validation methods to ensure feature robustness across all vehicles environmental conditions and customer usage
Work with the Hardware in the Loop (HIL) and virtual validation teams to establish procedures to reduce dependence on vehicle-level testing
Help execute real-world evaluation of ADAS features via vehicle/HIL/virtual testing and identify system problems/issues
Lead investigations of potential issues through problem solving analyses such as 8Ds and 5-Whys including facilitation of experts across the Ford enterprise and present findings and propose solutions to enterprise leadership
Utilize Connected Vehicle data to analyze and assess the ‘real-time’ performance of the Features in our customers’ vehicles to identify robustness and reliability improvement opportunities and drive solutions

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
3+ years of work experience with designing and developing Camera hardware systems or the software systems that deliver human vision camera features
2+ years of experience developing features in the ADAS domain using radars, cameras, LIDAR, ultrasonic sensors and/or other related vehicle systems (e.g. body, electrical, chassis, powertrain, etc.)
2+ years of experience in system engineering including experience with the System V, Functional decomposition, design analysis, Concept, Logical and technology level requirements development, System integration and FMA analysis
Strong leadership skills with a passion for quality and customer happiness
Excellent communication, teamwork, interpersonal and project management skills
Ability to work well independently and take initiative

Preferred

Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
Experience in authoring new system requirements/specifications
Experience with SysML / MagicDraw
Understanding of embedded hardware and software design
Experience with Functional Safety (ISO26262) and Failure Mode Avoidance
Experience with model based design (e.g. Matlab, Simulink, Stateflow, state machine development, etc.)
Verification proficiency (e.g. design verification methods, data acquisition/analysis, hardware-in-the-loop, etc.)
Experience Programing in C, C++ or equivalent programing language
Knowledge of virtual validation methods (e.g. HIL, MIL, SIL, etc.)
