Assistant Professor/Associate Professor of Creative Writing - Poetry
Morgan State University is seeking an Assistant Professor or preferably a tenured Associate Professor of Creative Writing – Poetry. The role involves teaching undergraduate and graduate creative writing courses, developing online courses, and contributing to the research and scholarship goals of the English Department.
Responsibilities
Teach undergraduate and graduate creative writing courses
Teach general education courses upon request
Develop and/or teach advanced online courses
Contribute to research and scholarship opportunities that will enhance the research efforts of the Department of English and the Creative Writing Program
Teach advanced Creative Writing and (occasionally) literature courses
Provide services to the department, college, university, community, and profession
Hold regular office hours in order to aid and increase the opportunities for student success
Attend departmental faculty meetings and serve on departmental committees as assigned
Faculty are expected to post grades in Canvas and submit reports, midterm grades, and final grades in a timely manner
Qualification
Required
Earned a terminal degree in Creative Writing or a related field
Preferred
Demonstrated knowledge of a second genre preferred, particularly dramatic writing
An established and ongoing scholarly and creative publishing record in the field of poetry as appropriate to rank
Additional experience teaching at the college level
