Judicial Services Specialist - Cumberland County

The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies in North Carolina, responsible for the care and supervision of adults sentenced for violating state laws. The Judicial Services Specialist will ensure accurate case data processing, review staff work, and maintain compliance with Community Supervision policies while engaging with the court system.

Responsibilities

Determine assignment process and make adjustments in order to meet demands of the court
Ensure that case data is accurately reflected in OPUS and CSAS
Make certain that cases are processed timely and accurately
Review and approval of staff work within the unit
Reviewing community service contacts
Placement and offender performance
Tracking and court processing
Performing case reviews to ensure effective services, appropriate follow up and adherence to Community Supervision policy
Complete performance appraisals on assigned JSCs
Time approval
Review proposed recipient agencies for appropriateness according to Community Supervision policy and guidelines

Required

Through knowledge of local/regional community resources to address the placement of monitored offenders and knowledge of structured sentencing and how it applies to Community Supervision
Through knowledge of sanctions that are available that will target the offender's needs
Demonstrated experience with supervising a team, delegating and directing work assignments, along with a variety of activities to include court intake
Experience with presenting in a professional manner always as the job is a highly visible position within Community Supervision
Ability to work independently and receive directions from Chief Probation/Parole officer
Exceptional time management and organizational skills and work under stressful situations
Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, human services, psychology or related field of study from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience as a Judicial Services Coordinator or other directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
Associate's degree in criminal justice, human services, psychology, or related field of study from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of experience as a Judicial Services Coordinator or other directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and five years of experience as a Judicial Services Coordinator or other directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
