Responsibilities

Conduct analysis of samples by quantifying imaging data obtained from immunofluorescence-based histological experiments. Using Arivis software, the individual evaluates fluorescence intensity and other relevant parameters to ensure accurate interpretation of experimental results. This analysis supports ongoing research projects aimed at understanding synapse formation at the molecular level. (45%)
Perform research work in medical and related technical areas involving the use of lab/research skills, this includes executing immunofluorescence-based histological experiments, utilizing standard molecular biology, microscopy, and histology techniques to collect and analyze data. The research assistant will use Zeiss confocal and epi-fluorescence microscopes to capture high-quality images and applying Arivis software for quantitative analysis. (20%)
Record results for a particular experiment or closely related series of experiments The Research Assistant records results for histological experiments by documenting observations and measurements in an organized manner. Data collected from imaging sessions using Zeiss Confocal & epi-fluorescence microscopes is systematically logged and stored in designated lab folders. The individual ensures that all experimental outcomes are accurately captured for future reference and analysis. (10%)
Maintain records of experiments. Organize raw data and update lab-related data folders. This includes using software tools such as Prism for statistical analysis, Excel for data management, and Word for preparing reports. Proper record-keeping ensures reproducibility and compliance with laboratory standards. (10%)
Maintain test equipment utilized in experiments and perform routine lab maintenance, including cleaning equipment and labware, and disposing of biohazardous waste. (10%)
Order laboratory supplies as needed, to support ongoing research activities.
