The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services is seeking a Payroll Technician to ensure accurate payment of employees and the timely preparation of payrolls. This role involves a full range of payroll processing activities, including calculation, preparation, processing, and reconciliation of payroll for both classified and hourly employees.

Responsibilities

Ensure accurate payment of employees and the timely and accurate preparation of payrolls

Perform a full range of payroll processing activities to include calculation, preparation, processing and reconciliation

Process payroll categories classified and hourly

Validate leave balances for classified employees

Ensure employees participating in the Virginia Sickness & Disability Program are paid accurately during periods of short term or working long-term disability

Required

Experience or some education in Accounting / Finance may substitute for experience

Preferred

Experience in automated payroll and leave accounting system

Experience in general office procedures with emphasis in payroll operation using spreadsheets & system generated reports

Experience with ADP, timekeeping or other automated payroll and timekeeping system

Experience with Commonwealth Cardinal HCM system
