Office Specialist (Admissions Coordinator) -LRC

The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services is seeking an Office Specialist to support the Health Information Management Department. This role involves handling general office duties, maintaining records, and ensuring confidentiality in a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

Handle general office duties including answering phones, managing emails, and greeting visitors
Maintain and update files, records, and databases while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies, and complete Requests for Information
Assist with preparing reports, presentations, and correspondence
Scan, retrieve, and import documents within electronic medical record systems
Complete Requests for Information
Complete audits
Serve as a liaison between departments to support coordinated communication and completion of documentation
Provide data entry, transcribing, and specialized assistance as needed
Follow departmental procedures and maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times

Required

Coursework/training in administrative/office support functions, procedures, and methods including the operation of personal computers and office equipment; or areas related to the programs and functions of the employing agency
Experience in customer service or public contact; or applying criteria/regulations; and/or performing administrative/office/secretarial support work including use of personal computers and office equipment
A valid driver's license is required
Proficiency in English, including the ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend effectively

Preferred

Experience working in a medical office, clinic, hospital, or health information environment
Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems, medical documentation, or health information workflows
Strong data entry skills and experience handling sensitive or confidential information
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced healthcare environment
