Quality Control Manager - Arlington, VA

Responsibilities
Collaborate with field execution teams to ensure all construction practices meet Cortland’s high-quality standards while maintaining a passion for building new structures
Lead execution teams to achieve required Cortland standards, delivering the best possible resident experience
Provide guidance to execution teams to meet the high expectations outlined in Cortland’s Quality Control standards
Inspect and evaluate superior construction methods for multifamily homes, including concrete, framing, roofing, envelope sealing, mechanical systems, insulation, energy efficiency, windows, doors, and exterior finishes
Apply Cortland’s standards to interior finishes, including drywall (level 4 & 5), fixtures, paint, trim, cabinetry, appliances, tile and backsplash, flooring, railings, and stairs
Demonstrate familiarity with accepted building practices, including techniques, code requirements, OSHA safety standards, and daily reporting requirements
Conduct phase inspections such as Pre-Pour, Building Envelope, Framing/Pre-Drywall, Final Exteriors, and Final Interiors
Perform Due Diligence Inspections for new acquisitions
Coordinate on-site mock-ups of exterior wall assemblies
Execute waterproofing procedures using industry-approved products
Survey and inspect all prospective projects—existing, value-add, and new construction—under consideration for purchase
Produce daily reports and quality grades for execution teams during the construction phase
Conduct final inspections and prepare punch lists to enable successful project handovers to the Cortland owner
Recognize and apply the distinction between minimum industry requirements and Cortland’s elevated quality standards
Qualification
Required
Stellar 3+ years of experience in the construction industry
Bachelor's degree in construction, engineering, architecture, or a related field or equivalent inspection/construction management experience
Proven project management skills for each stage of construction and renovation
Solid understanding of due diligence, installation practices, and associated deliverables
Deep knowledge of standard practices compared to our high quality standards
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Project)
Preferred
ICC Certifications in Building, Plumbing, Mechanical and Electrical
