Quality Assurance/ Quality Control Associate
Gwinnett County Government is seeking a Quality Assurance/ Quality Control Associate to support capital construction and asset management project delivery teams. This senior-level role involves ensuring high levels of quality assurance and control across multiple construction projects, coordinating with contractors and consultants, and administering a comprehensive quality assurance program.

Responsibilities
Review plans, specifications, and designs submitted by architects, engineers, and contractors and advise on specification compliance and constructability issues
Review contractor daily reports, architect/engineer (A/E) field observation reports, agency inspection reports, commissioning reports, and all quality-related documentation
Follow up with contractors to assist in resolving discrepancies or constructability issues on-site and coordinate quality control activities among contractors, subcontractors, and stakeholders, including architectural and engineering firms, to ensure compliance with contract documents
Respond to complex technical questions that arise during design and construction from contractors and other agencies
Perform regular construction site inspections; review reports and documentation; conduct pre-construction and pre-installation meetings; and assist with internal final inspections
Administer the county’s construction quality assurance program with a focus on preventing construction defects and substandard work
Assist project management staff with contract administration activities, including quality control inspections, schedule compliance, punch list management, project closeout, warranty management, and asset inventory
Perform technical design reviews addressing constructability and maintainability in coordination with Capital Construction and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) staff
Provide regular and consistent owner field representation
Assist with off-hour construction management activities, including contractor access and quality assurance and quality control efforts
Assist with project commissioning activities
Support project turnover activities with O&M staff, including participation in warranty period tasks
Review project specifications, estimated project costs, and evaluate contractor proposals; including change order and guaranteed maximum price proposal review
Perform other duties of a similar nature or level as assigned
Written and verbal coordination with Architect, Engineers, and General Contractors
Conduct preconstruction and preinstallation meetings with project teams
Leadership briefings on project status and findings, primarily concerning non-conforming work and proposed remedial action plans
Written and verbal communications with other County Departments regarding non-conforming or remedial action plans, and participate in dispute resolution between Architects, Engineers, and Contractors
Qualification
Required
Associate degree in Architecture, Engineering, Building Science, Building Technology, Construction, Business Management, Project Management or a closely related field
Four years of construction experience
Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above
Valid driver's license
Preferred
Ten years of Construction Inspections, Specification, and Contract Document Review and Interpretation
